| After an interview process, Hexagon was retained by the developer to conduct a transportation impact analysis for the redevelopment of the Great Mall of the Bay area. New additions to mall were included: a 300 foot tower with a bar and observation deck, a "drop-zone" type ride feature, several theme restaurants, and a multiplex theater. Although the proposed changes would not increase the net Gross leasable area of the mall, they would increase trip generation during the PM peak hours. The study included conducting several surveys to determine percentages of internal trips, used the City of Milpitas Travel Demand Forecast (TDF) model of estimate the trip distribution, and provided a thorough review of the project’s site circulation and access elements. In addition, the study provided quantitative analysis to determine the feasibility to closing Comet Drive, a private roadway adjacent to the site. The report produced several recommendations, including contributions to planned roadway improvements, and ways to improve site circulation. | |
