Cisco Coyote Valley
Cisco Corporation, a maker of computer networking equipment, is one of the largest employers in Santa Clara County. To satisfy their demand for building space, Cisco is expanding into the Coyote Valley area of San Jose. Although the Coyote Valley has long been identified as a location for future industrial development, the project is extremely controversial due to its size (7.7 million square feet) and its conversion of open space to urban uses. Hexagon prepared the traffic study for the Cisco environmental impact report (EIR). Several millions of dollars of necessary transportation improvements were identified, including a new freeway interchange, many new on-site roads with other grade separations, and a new rail station. In addition the main freeway providing access to the Coyote Valley area was shown to need widening from four to eight lanes. Since completion of the EIR, Hexagon has continued to work on transportation studies for the Coyote Valley. The current studies include design and operations of the on-site roads and signalized intersections.
