| Hexagon staff were hired by Cadence Design Systems, Inc., to conduct a traffic study in support of buildout of their North San Jose campus. In addition to the usual traffic study required for all new development, a major issue with the campus buildout was the provision of direct access to Montague Expressway. The Cadence campus is located on a site adjacent to the expressway where visibility is excellent but access was circuitous. A goal for Cadence was to develop better employee and visitor access by adding an entrance directly to the expressway opposite Trimble Road. This proved to be a very difficult engineering proposition because of the unusual intersection configuration and the need to add no additional delay to through traffic on the expressway. The design was further complicated by a planned flyover at the intersection that would lie partially on Cadence land. Hexagon staff assisted Cadence in designing an acceptable solution to the many problems and ultimately winning approval for the access from the county Board of Supervisors. | |
